Last Saturday in Buenos Aires, Tokyo was elected Host City for 2020 Olympic Games, with 60 votes against 36 votes for Istanbul. Madrid was eliminated for 45 to 49 on a second vote after a tie, against Istanbul.

Stefano Manelli, head of Citec Torino, was one of the 14 members of the IOC Evaluation Commission, in charge of delivering a technical report on the candidates to IOC members: excellence of transport system, the absence of doping scandals among japan sportsmen, financial guarantees were strong assets for the final choice.

The three candidatures being of the highest quality, with Tokyo the IOC preferred to play safe from both the operational and financial point of view. The Tokyo’s bid file was prepared and presented at the top and supported by all levels of the government.
